SUCCESS!!!!!
Hands On Athens 2003 was a huge success! click on
pictures for larger versions
Hands On Athens 2003
completed repairs, maintenance and/or
painting on eleven houses and, though final numbers are not in yet, it
appears that we had more than 300 volunteers show up for the event.
Simply astounding!
A special thanks to
Steering Committee partners: ACC Department of Human and Economic
Development, Athens Area Habitat for Humanity, Athens Land Trust, East
Athens Development Corporation, Georgia PAS Corps/Americorps, Hancock
Community Development Corporation, Keep A-CC Beautiful, UGA Carl Vinson
Institute of Government, UGA Office of University Architects, and UGA
College of Environment and Design. In addition to serving on the
Steering Committee throughout the year and playing vital roles in
making HOA happen, a number of these groups also took on a house for
the weekend and provided the majority of volunteers needed! So, if you
know anyone from these groups, please praise and thank them.
I also want to express a
very special thanks to the house
captains (listed below) who did an incredible job making sure
everything got done.
Finally, if anyone is
